Natural Butter or some may refer to it as “Cosmetic Butter”, is derived from natural resources such as beans, nuts, and seeds.
As the name suggests, these Natural Butters are highly beneficial for the skin and have been used by cosmetic brands to develop their products.
Natural Butter is rich in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids which help to moisturize the skin deeply and lock in moisture, which is quite beneficial when treating dry skin problems or eczema.
The Essential fatty acids aid in preventing possible signs of aging, and it contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that aid in fresh & glowing skin. The antioxidant properties help to detoxify the skin and repair dead skin cells. They also destroy free radicals, prevent collagen loss and enhance cell turnover.
Natural butter is usually thick and doesn’t leave an oily feel. It's 100% natural and can be used for ALL sensitive skin types.
Lye is an active ingredient in soap that makes it soap. Is it natural? The chemical process by which the lye mixes with oils or fats is called saponification. During this process, handmade soap turns into a substance that resembles gel. It heats up to 180 degrees fahrenheit, during which the chemical makeup of the mixture changes. When the process is complete after curing, there is no lye(sodium hydroxide) left in the soap. It has been permanently and irrevocably changed into soap.
Shea butter is extracted from the nut of the shea trees. It is used in various products for skin and hair. It contains Vitamins A, E, and F that contribute to healthy skin and hair. It is used to moisturize and rejuvenate the skin.
Mango butter is what its name precisely suggests - it is a fat derived from mango seeds. It is also known as mango kernel butter. It is usually semi-solid in form when stored in cool temperatures but usually melts when it comes in contact with the skin.
Cocoa butter is rich in Vitamin E and is known to improve skin elasticity, having an anti-aging effect. It’s also used for its capacity to even out your skin tone. It has photo-protective properties. Made from cocoa beans, and filled with many fatty acids, this type of butter should be included in your skincare routine.
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants that have been in use for thousands of years for health, medical, and aromatic purposes.
With around a hundred essential oils available today, each one carries a distinct flavor and scent of the plant, from which it is extracted. Used commonly as a part of aromatherapy, the oils are either inhaled directly or rubbed on the skin after being diluted.
The oils are known to treat various health problems like stress, depression, anxiety, sleep, headaches, reduce inflammation and insomnia.
Essential Oils are also used as a natural scent in homemade cosmetics or to freshen laundry.
***Disclaimer***
While essential oils are natural, they can be just as powerful as traditional medications. With their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and soothing properties, essential oils are used for a variety of skincare concerns.
While research into the efficacy of essentials is ongoing, advocates say oils can help dry, oily, and acne-prone skin. Before using essential oils, seek the medical advice of your dermatologist, especially if you have underlying conditions like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Stop using essential oils immediately if you experience any negative reactions.
Carrier oils are used for the dilution of essential oils so that they can be carried into the skin. Essential oils are distilled directly from the aromatic bark, roots, and leaves of plants, so they can cause reactions like redness, burning, or severe irritation if applied to the skin directly without carrier oils.
Cold pressed carrier oils such as avocado oil, coconut oil, argan Oil, rosehip oil, jojoba oil are called carrier oils and are derived from nuts, kernels, or seeds of a plant. These oils are claimed to lose fragile nutrients on heating but are extensively used by some of the leading brands across the world in aromatherapy and other applications like massage therapy as well as the manufacturing of cosmetics and soaps.
Olive oil is naturally derived from raw plant materials, known for moisturizing benefits when applied to dry skin or hair, and can be combined with essential oils or applied directly to the skin. It's packed with fatty acids and plant sterols, which make it great for cleansing and moisturizing dry skin. Olive oil can be used for massaging, facial cleansers, hair care, and homemade soaps.
